Team Policies that affect you as a Player

I. Team Policies that affect you as a Player (OOC)
A. On Passwords
Everyone who wants to play Avlis must go through the application process before logging into the server. The passwords will be sent to you in an email. Under no circumstances should a player give the passwords, whether the person appears to be a regular player or not. Anyone caught playing prior to filling out an application will be banned immediately. Anyone caught giving out the passwords will also be summarily banned. No exceptions. Avlis is an RP community and by freely passing out the passwords, you are undermining that environment. This policy is necessary to maintain the integrity of our community.
B. On Server-vault Purges
The Avlis Team is committed to the security of the players in our playerbase. Consequently, we will not purge the database to eliminate problems with the server made through human error. C. Punishment Procedure
C.1. Warnings
Your first warning is in the application. It is your responsibility as a player to read the rules thoroughly and carefully. If there is something you don’t understand, ask first. Do not assume that you understand the rule because ignorance will not be considered a valid excuse if you are caught. A second warning will be given when the infraction takes place. If you are online, a DM will normally inform you through a tell and/or by bringing you to the immortal area. If you are not online, the warning will come as a PM to your forum account. There is no third warning.
C.2. Watchlist
The Team uses a Watchlist to discuss possible rule-violations. If you are on the Watchlist , it does not mean that you are guilty, merely that the team is discussing a possible rule infraction. Players should not fear the watchlist as a kind of "big brother" watching over you. Rather, the watchlist serves to facilitate Team communication about possible infractions. The watchlist is used to track what offenses have been committed, how many times and what actions have been taken by the Team. In the past, some innocent players have had an unjustified fear that they are on the Watchlist. If you’ve been warned, then you’re on the list. If you have not been warned, then assume that there is no problem provided that you are following the rules.
C.3. Severity of Offenses
Most offenses will merit a warning. Sometimes an infraction is so severe or is cumulative with other infractions that the result is an immediate Ban. The rules themselves will note when a punishment merits an immediate ban. The Avlis Team evaluates each incident on its own merits, and may give a lighter or heavier sentence depending upon the extenuating circumstances.
C.4. Kinds of Punishments
The Avlis 2 Team will punish many offenses by assigning a player's character to Vault-Jail. Vault Jail consists of having your characters removed from your vault for 5+ days. When we vault jail, we jail all associated gamespy accounts.
In the event of a second infraction or a severe infraction, the punishment will be a complete and total Ban, by both CD key and IP address and will include all gamespy accounts associated with the CD key and/or IP address.
D. Implication of Banning: Shared CD Keys:
When someone is banned from the server, we ban every CD key associated with that person. Consequently, it has happened in the past that people have been banned for the actions of a parent, spouse, brother, sister, child, or friend. We acknowledge that people may want to share their gaming experiences with others, but you are strongly advised to get separate CD keys for everyone in your household. We ban all CD keys because it is next to impossible to distinguish whether or not it is true that said player truly has a parent, child or sibling who regularly plays on the same CD or gamespy account. The best way to protect yourself against this infraction is NEVER TO SHARE your CD key with anyone.
